The rules every template follows
- Plain English, written the way people talk — “We agreed that…”, not “The parties hereby covenant…”.
- No legal jargon. Words like “hereby”, “in witness whereof”, “legally bound”, “lien” and “collateral” are not used.
- Short: a template asks for the handful of details people actually end up disagreeing about, in two or three steps, and fits on a page or two.
- Templates for lending money or selling property carry a stronger notice, because those are the deals where a state’s formal requirements matter most.
Where the samples come from
Each guide shows the template filled in with a made-up scenario. The sample is not retyped for the website: it is produced from the same template, by the same code, that the app uses when you create an agreement. If the template changes, the sample is rebuilt from it. The names in every sample are fictional.
The field descriptions come from the app as well — the labels, the number of steps and the checks the app runs before it lets you save are read from the template itself.
How a guide is made
- We start from the template and from the questions people ask about that kind of deal.
- We use AI tools to help draft. Every guide is then checked line by line against the real template and edited by a person on our team before it is published.
- When a guide says something depends on your state or on federal law, it links to the official source — a government site or the statute — rather than summarising it from memory.
- Each page has its own content. If two guides start to read alike, one of them is not finished.
What these pages are not
Agreely is not a law firm, and nobody on our team is acting as your lawyer. These guides are not reviewed by an attorney and are not legal advice. They explain what a template records and where it is likely not enough, so you can decide whether it fits your situation. For anything important — a large amount of money, property, or a deal you expect to be challenged — talk to a licensed attorney in your state.
Updates and corrections
The “Updated” date on a guide changes only when its content does. If you find something wrong or out of date, write to support@getagreely.com — a person reads every message.
